Oakville Public Library’s contest Write2XPress encourages youth from Grade 7 through Grade 12 to submit a short story for publication. Entrants are provided with a photo to base their story around and a phrase they must include. This year the line was, “Can you call me a cab?”
The central library auditorium was packed for awards night earlier this winter. The special guest speaker for the evening was Oakville resident and author Alison Baird. She wrote the popular novel The Dragon’s Egg published by Scholastic.
Prizes are awarded in three grade categories. This is the fourth year for the contest. It is supported by the Friends of the Oakville Library.
Winners!
Winners in the Oakville Public Library’s annual Write2XPress contest were Eleni Levreault for Grade 11/12 (left), Samuel Doyle for Grade 7/8, and Laura Johnson for Grade 9/10.
